Privacy Policy

dontrelai ("we," "us") is a speech practice tool: you record yourself speaking for 60 seconds, and we give you AI feedback. Because the product works by recording you, this policy is unusually specific about what happens to those recordings. The short version:

What happens to a recording

Here is the full lifecycle of a rep, because we think you should know exactly:

• Your video is recorded in your browser. It is sent to our server once, for the sole purpose of grading.
• Our server passes it to Google Gemini, the AI service that watches your rep and generates your scores and feedback. Immediately after grading is requested, we instruct Gemini to delete its copy. In the rare case where grading fails or times out, Gemini automatically deletes the file within 48 hours under its own retention rules.
• dontrelai's own servers and database never store your video. There is no video file, no storage bucket, no link to footage anywhere in your account.
• If you click "Save Recording," the video is downloaded directly from your browser to your own device. It is not uploaded anywhere. If you don't save it, it's gone when you leave the page.

Your transcript is generated in your browser by your browser's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your browser, that speech recognition may be performed by your browser vendor's service (for example, Google's, in Chrome).

What we do store

• Account information: your email address and login credentials, managed through Supabase, our authentication and database provider. If you add a profile picture, we store that too.
• Session results: for each completed rep — the topic, your transcript, your four category scores and total score, the AI's written feedback and improvement suggestions, and basic rep metadata (type of rep, date). This is what powers your history, streaks, and analytics.
• Subscription information: if you subscribe to Pro, we store a Stripe customer identifier so we can link your account to your subscription. Your card details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.

How we use your information

We use your session data for one purpose: showing you your own feedback, history, and progress. We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models, tune our grading, or improve the product. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.

Who we share information with

Only the service providers required to run dontrelai, each receiving only what it needs:

• Google Gemini — receives your recording to generate feedback, as described above.
• Stripe — processes Pro payments.
• Supabase and our hosting provider — store account and session data and run the service.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data retention

Session results are kept while your account is active. Full session history, analytics, and feedback are available to every account, free or Pro. When you delete your account, everything goes with it (see below).

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time from the settings page. Deletion cancels any active Pro subscription, then removes your sessions, profile, profile picture, and login — permanently. If the subscription cancellation fails for any reason, the deletion stops and tells you, so you're never left with a charge and no account to manage it from. Payment records held by Stripe are retained as required for financial and legal recordkeeping.

Age requirements

dontrelai is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 — if we learn we have, we will delete it. If you are under 18, you may use dontrelai only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Security

All connections to dontrelai are encrypted (HTTPS), and access to your data is authenticated through your account. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but the architecture above — not storing footage at all — is itself our biggest privacy protection.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and note the change on this page. Continuing to use dontrelai after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
